Welcome to the next generation of the DGS website. We have revisualized the site in preperation for adding an ecommerce system, and to transition to dynamic site building technologies. Thanks to our good friends at Quantum Phase, we will be making the move to java server pages, to enhance our ability to deliver creative content and services(thanks to Loren, the Head Java Guru at QP).

With this update comes a reorganization of the content here at DGS, and we will be adding lots of new content once the system gets past intial bug testing. Fractal Visions 4 is now available for purchase on CD-Rom, see the FV4 section for details. FV4 has reached a signifigant milestones, as it now includes 216 high resolution works and has recieved a complete engine upgrade. It now works on all versions of Windows (9x and up) and includes increased functionality. Check out the shareware version if you would like to give it a try.

The Data section will include all of our tech reviews of Seattle computer retailers, and as time permits we will add some reviews of hardware we have tested here in the Lab.

Linux continues its inevitable march to market domination, it seems as every week passes, another system in the Studio is upgraded from Windows to Linux. For the workstation, we prefer Mandrake and on the server we are using RedHat. If you have not considered the move to Linux, now is a good time to look into it.

Digital Video continues to be a hot topic here. Amazing progress has been made in the area of stream compression. If you have not tried out the XVID codec you should give it a look. The compression and quality is stunning.
